Summer Update 2026

Happy 250 to America! We hope your Independence Day / Holiday Weekend has been filled with celebrations, family and friends. As the summer really kicks in, we’ve enjoyed some Scottish events over the past month.We had a good crew out at Celtic Fest Ohio at Renaissance Park who shared information about our Society. We got several interested applicants.

A few days later, members and friends gathered at The Pub at Rookwood to cheer on Scotland in World Cup action. Although the outcome wasn’t what we hoped for, the camaraderie, food and drink was top notch. Thanks to Caitlin for piping!

The Ohio Scottish Games were held under fairly mild temps with just a brief rain shower in the mid afternoon. The Cincinnati Caledonian Pipes & Drums competed in grade IV Medley and MSR contests, coming in 3rd out of 4 in a tough group of bands including 87th Cleveland and Capital City, both of whom are going to the World Pipe Band Championships in August.

Immediately after the games, the Ohio Scottish Arts School started their weeklong classes at Oberlin College for piping, drumming, dancing, fiddling and other subjects. As many of you know, this is one of the groups we donate to every year as part of our mission to help promote and preserve the Scottish cultural / musical arts. Thanks to our members including Missy Gentry, Debbie Wilshire and Dani Speigel who dedicate their talent and effort to this annual event.4

Coming up next month we have our annual Corn Roast/Founder’s Day Picnic. This will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 back at Veteran’s Park in Anderson Twp. Check details on the ticketleap invite and get ready to impress everyone with your favorite recipe of appetizers, salads or desserts.

Last chance to get your entry in for our Society logo contest. We have a great logo option that was created by students at Cincinnati State but we also want to see if you have one to share.

There is also the contest for the whiskey label and the tartan for the Society.

After July 31, no entries will be accepted. Members can provide their input on their preferred selection in August online and at the Corn Roast.





Caledonian Society

The Caledonian Society of Cincinnati was formed in 1827 and is the oldest Scottish Society in continuing existence in the United States. It was initially formed for the purpose of aiding indigent Scottish immigrants in the Cincinnati area. Since then, the Society become a 501(c)3 charitable organization devoted to preserving and promoting Scottish culture and heritage.

Our Mission:

The mission of the Caledonian Society of Cincinnati is to create, stimulate and sustain an interest in Scotland, to educate the public about Scottish heritage; to provide educational and entertaining events that share and promote Scottish culture; promote goodwill and understanding among its members and the general public and to perform such charitable works and scholarships as may be reasonably possible and appropriate.
