Orders of St. Margaret and Caledonia
Nomination Form

Criteria for Nominees

1 WHO MAY MAKE A NOMINATION

Any member of the Caledonian Society of Cincinnati may nominate a qualified person by completing this form and forwarding it to the Society board. It is not possible to nominate yourself.

2  COMPLETING THE NOMINATION FORM

Please complete the nomination form completely and accurately, following the instructions in each section. It is important that you provide as much information as possible about your nominee. As well as listing jobs or posts held, explain what their contribution and/or impact has been to the Society.

3  ELIGIBILITY

Honors are given to both Society members and non-members.  The nominee must have performed a service or services, or engaged in activities resulting in significant benefit to the Caledonian Society or the local community from which its members are drawn. Said benefit must be identifiable, and quantified such that its value to the Society or community should be apparent to the majority of the Society membership. The services/activities performed should be other than those traditionally expected from persons with a similar relationship to the Society or community.  If not, the benefit derived should be significantly greater than is normally achieved by these same activities.

4  TIMING OF NOMINATIONS

Inductions are announced at the annual St. Andrew's Ball each November.  All nominations must be submitted by August 1.

5  CONFIDENTIALITY

All nominations for honors are treated in the strictest confidence. The nominee should not be told that they have been nominated, as it is unfair to raise their expectations before a decision has been made.

6 LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

Two letters of recommendation are required from people with first-hand knowledge of the nominee who can endorse their contribution or supply additional information.

7  ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND PROGRESS OF NOMINATIONS

We will acknowledge receipt of your nomination. We regret that we cannot enter into correspondence on the merits of a particular nomination.
