St. Andrew's Day is November 30th, and is celebrated with much pomp
and circumstance. The setting is reminiscent of a castle "great hall",
with Clan Banners and Crests suspended over colorful kilted gentlemen and
beautifully gowned ladies. The evening begins after a cocktail hour, with
entry of the officers, each accompanied by a piper, banner bearer and armed
escort. Dinner follows, after which the annual Caledonian Scholarship and
a Scholastic Excellence Award is presented to local students, and contributors
to the Society and the community are recognized. Guests spend the remainder
of the evening in modern and Scottish country dancing and enjoying performances
of The Caledonian Pipes, Drums and Dancers, and the Royal Scottish Country
Dance Society. Formal kilted attire and dresses are preferred, but coat
and tie is acceptable.
